GM Korea Has Highest Domestic Sales in 2013

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company sold a November record 14,100 vehicles in Korea. Sales rose 2.4 percent from 13,768 vehicles sold in the same month last year. It was GM Korea’s best monthly sales this year and its fifth consecutive month of year-on-year domestic sales growth.

The Chevrolet Malibu had its best month of the year, as its sales reached 1,216 units thanks to amenities such as Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and the Chevrolet MyLink smart infotainment system. November sales of the Damas and Labo commercial vehicles were 1,059 and 1,204 units respectively, representing an increase of 20.1 percent and 74.2 percent on an annual basis.

November sales were supported by the popularity of the Chevrolet Captiva, Orlando and Trax, which had collective sales of 3,242 units. The Orlando alone sold 1,714 units, surpassing 1,500 units for the fourth consecutive month and positioning itself atop its segment. Meanwhile, sales of the Captiva in November were up 46.7 percent from the same month last year.

“The competitiveness of our products, including the 2014 Malibu and Orlando and high-performance models such as the Camaro RS and Aveo RS, drove our sales momentum,” said Marc J. Added up to total sales of 67,627 vehicles in November, exports of complete vehicles totaled 53,527 units. GM Korea also exported 72,938 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

For the first 11 months of 2013, GM Korea recorded sales of 707,678 vehicles (133,187 units in the domestic market and 574,491 units in export markets, excluding CKD). In addition, GM Korea exported 1,096,743 CKD products in the eleven months of 2013.
