SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company sold 13,922 vehicles across Korea in October, which was an increase of 5.8 percent from 13,159 vehicles sold in the same month last year. This was a record for October sales since the company’s launch in 2002 and its highest monthly sales this year. October was also the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year domestic sales growth for GM Korea.

Domestic sales in October benefited from the Chevrolet Spark, which sold 5,193 units. October was the third consecutive month that domestic sales of the Chevrolet Orlando surpassed 1,500 units. Its sales reached 1,560 units, which was an increase of 6.7 percent on an annual basis.

Demand for the Orlando as well as the Chevrolet Captiva, Damas and Labo rose on a year-over-year basis for a third straight month in October. In addition, the Labo - the only commercial vehicle that offers the benefits of a mini-vehicle - had its best month ever as sales reached 1,493 units.

“Sales were boosted by GM Korea receiving the top scores for the second consecutive year in the Quality Stress and Aftersales Service Satisfaction Index published by Marketing Insight,” said Marc J. Comeau, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “GM Korea is focused on finishing 2013 strong. In addition to the recently launched Chevrolet Cruze Turbo and 2014 Chevrolet Camaro RS, we will introduce the Chevrolet Aveo Turbo before year end and launch a special promotion that offers great benefits to customers in November.”

Exports of complete vehicles in October were up 0.5 percent to 53,739 units from 53,458 units exported during the same month last year. GM Korea also exported 107,524 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

For the first 10 months of 2013, GM Korea recorded sales of 640,051 vehicles (119,087 units in the domestic market and 520,964 units in export markets, excluding CKD). Domestic sales were up 1.2 percent from 117,655 vehicles sold during the same period last year, while exports dropped 1.6 percent from 529,514 units.
