GM Korea Reports June Sales of 70,237 Vehicles

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 70,237 vehicles in June, including 10,161 vehicles in the domestic market and 60,076 complete vehicles in export markets. This was an increase of 2.7 percent from the 68,359 units sold in the previous month.

GM Korea’s sales in Korea were down 14 percent from 11,810 units sold in May. June sales of the Chevrolet Orlando ALV (Active Life Vehicle) totaled 1,149 units, an increase of 2 percent from May and the fourth consecutive month that domestic sales of the model exceeded 1,000 units. The Chevrolet Cruze, which includes the next generation six-speed automatic transmission, improved acceleration, reasonable price, generated sales of 1,566 units and increased its segment share.

Exports of complete vehicles in June were up 6.2 percent to 60,076 units from 56,549 units exported in the previous month. GM Korea also exported 114,861 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

GM Korea’s vehicle sales in the first half of 2013 totaled 401,492 units (65,203 units in the domestic market and 336,289 units in export markets excluding CKD). This was down 1.9 percent from 409,146 units sold in the same period last year. In addition, GM Korea exported 642,809 CKD products in the first six months of 2013, a drop of 4.9 percent from 675,940 products exported in the same period last year.

In the second half of the year, GM Korea will further enhance its Chevrolet product lineup and improve its competitiveness. It will also benefit from recently introduced models that feature improved performance and updated styling such as the new Chevrolet Spark, Cruze and Orlando.

In July, GM Korea will continue to offer the Free Interest Monthly Installment program, Monthly Installment Deferment program and start the improved Low Interest Monthly Installment program. In addition, it will introduce a variety of aggressive new marketing promotions for vehicle buyers across Korea.
