SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 11,181 vehicles in Korea and exported 54,338 vehicles in September, for total monthly sales of 65,519 vehicles.

The company’s domestic sales were up 14.0 percent from 9,808 vehicles sold in August, while exports of complete vehicles increased 53.7 percent from 35,359 vehicles exported in the previous month.

In September, GM Korea also exported 92,080 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

Domestic sales in October are expected to remain positive through a series of recent new model year product launches, including the Chevrolet Malibu, Orlando and Aveo. Demand for GM Korea products will also benefit from aggressive promotions such as the Interest-Free Installment Program (for the Chevrolet Spark and Cruze) and Change Up Plus Program for used vehicles, as well as Korean government’s reduction of the Individual Consumer Tax.

For the first nine months of 2012, GM Korea recorded total sales of 580,556 vehicles. Domestic sales declined 0.7 percent to 104,496 vehicles from 105,237 vehicles in the year-ago period and exports dropped 3.8 percent year on year to 476,060 vehicles.

In addition, GM Korea exported 975,374 CKD products in the first nine months of 2012.
