NCH Korea installs photovoltaic facilities in Eumseong factory to practice ESG management and realize green factory
SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--NCH Korea (Country Manager Junkyu Oh), a world-class industrial facility maintenance product manufacturer, announced today that it installed a solar power generation facility with a daily production capacity of 150kW at its Eumseong plant in Chungcheongbuk-do for ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) management practices and the implementation of a carbon-neutral Green Factory that actively responds to the climate crisis.
As part of its new carbon-neutral renewable energy practice, NCH completed the installation of photovoltaic power generation facilities on the roof of the Eumseong plant and began full-scale operation. By taking this step, NCH Korea has started to build an eco-friendly workplace that increases the use of renewable energy within the workplace and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
The electricity produced at NCH’s Eumseong Plant is used for production processes, office computers, lighting, and other daily electricity demands. As a result of the initial operation, NCH produces 150 kWh of solar power per day, which is the amount of power that can light 1,500 100W-bulbs for one hour. This solar installation is expected to allow NCH to save about KRW 5 million in electricity bills annually.
In fact, NCH’s solar power production is enough to cover all the power required for the production processes at Eumseong Plant, and all power sources currently in use can be replaced with solar energy.
NCH established an in-house committee to actively practice ESG management in 2022. The ESG Committee has established a plan that concentrates company-wide capabilities to implement ESG-focused initiatives in service of five goals: reducing energy consumption and improving efficiency, strengthening social contribution projects, developing and applying eco-friendly technologies, and strengthening industrial accident management.
Country Manager Junkyu Oh of NCH Korea said, “By realizing carbon neutrality at Eumseong Plant through the supply of clean energy, NCH expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce energy costs by KRW 5 million per year. Going forward, we plan to gradually increase the use of renewable energy by expanding our in-house solar power generation facilities.”
Established in Dallas, Texas, USA in 1919, NCH has cultivated customer trust over its long history while putting safety first and developing products and technical skills covering facilities maintenance, lubricants, plumbing, water treatment, food safety, and more. NCH pipe solutions have been used in more than 10,000 power plants worldwide over the past 50 years.
