SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--The KDI School of Public Policy and Management (KDI School) has announced that it will start a large-scale translation project on more than 1000 Korean contents within K-Developedia (www.kdevelopedia.org).

After the translation project, K-Developedia is expected to improve website usage and accessibility by lowering language barriers and by enabling international users to find relevant materials on Korea’s development.

The project will be divided into three, depending on the types of translation materials: thesis abstracts, web content and multimedia. With regard to thesis abstract translation, 28 materials were translated in 2012 and 68 in 2013. Around 255 materials are expected to be translated by the end of this year. Web content translation began from the second half of 2013, along with Korean contents of “Administration” and “Official Aid,” which also fall under the category of “Development Overview”. Multimedia translation, on the other hand, has just begun this year. Currently, 738 photos and meta-information on Korea’s development along with 113 video scripts are on the process. The aim is to complete the project by the end of this year.

The translation project will fulfill the demand and needs of global users by expanding scope of translated multimedia contents such as photos and video clips. Before, translation service was limited to abstract and web contents only. Through this project, K-Developedia will provide one-stop service in a single platform that furnishes related materials on Korean development, including a total of around 27,000 papers, minutes of the meeting, photos, videos, etc.

“K-Developedia is the best search engine on Korean development. It provides relevant information and data to users worldwide who wish to learn Korea’s development model. We hope that the translation project will offer top-quality Korean contents which are carefully selected by the KDI School’s advisory committee. ” said Sang-Woo Nam, the dean of the KDI School.
