U.S. ambassador to South Korea hosts May 29 business reception in Seoul with Fairfax County, Virginia

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA. & SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA--(Business Wire / Korea Newswire)--The United States Ambassador to South Korea, Sung Y. Kim, will host a May 29 business networking reception at his residence in Seoul with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA, www.fairfaxcountyeda.org).

Executives from Korean companies with U.S. operations, and representatives from companies considering expansion in the U.S., have been invited to the event, which also has been planned by the Seoul office of the U.S. Commercial Service, part of the Department of Commerce.

As part of its international outreach, the FCEDA has maintained an office in Asia since 1997 and a Seoul office (http://goo.gl/go5Hlp) since 2005 to work with Korean companies in technology and other sectors interested in expansion in the U.S. Charles Kim directs the Seoul office.

More than 6,700 technology companies have a presence in Fairfax County, which is minutes from Washington, D.C., and offers sales and partnership opportunities with U.S. companies, the U.S. federal government and its contractors. More than 100 companies based in Asia, including almost 50 from Korea, are part of the Fairfax County business community. Prior to his appointment, he was the special envoy for the Six-Party Talks with the rank of ambassador. Before that, he headed the Office of Korean Affairs at the Department of State from August 2006 to July 2008. Ambassador Kim also served in a variety of positions in the East Asia Pacific region including overseas assignments in Seoul, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.
