TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Korea Newswire)--GuestLogix Inc. (TSX:GXI), the leading global provider of onboard retail and payment technology solutions to airlines, rail operators and the passenger travel industry, today announced a 3-year agreement with a major European rail operator to deploy its retailing technology and OnTouch® GuestPass™ ticketing platform for the sale and validation of rail tickets at onboard and off-board touchpoints. The agreement also involves the deployment of GuestLogix‘ PCI-compliant iOS smartphone POS technology and payment sleeves for iPhones, for the secure acceptance of credit cards via Chip and PIN, providing new and secure payment methods to the operator’s passengers. GuestLogix‘ integrated ticketing platform will power the off-board sale of tickets from mobile attendants, ticket box offices, kiosks and online, and will also be used to manage the sale and authentication of rail tickets onboard trains. The operator will be the first to deploy the Company’s OnTouch® GuestPass™ ticketing validation technology, and represents the GuestLogix Global Rail Division's largest contract signing to date.

“Our Global Rail Division has channeled much energy and dedication into advancing GuestLogix‘ technology to meet the unique and evolving needs of the rail industry,” said GuestLogix President & CEO, Brett Proud. “In addition to powering the sale of rail tickets across a multitude of onboard and off-board touchpoints, our innovative technology will also enable crew to accept and validate tickets onboard using our iOS-version platform and payment sleeves for the Apple iPhone. Our solutions will assist the customer in improving its ticketing and validation processes, and we will support the operator’s needs in every way we can.”

GuestLogix‘ newest rail customer will benefit from PCI-compliant payment acceptance using innovative smartphone payment technology and payment sleeves. Upon deployment, Chip and PIN payments will be accepted for the purchase of rail tickets, providing added convenience and protection for both the operator and its passengers. In addition, implementation of GuestLogix’ OnTouch® GuestPass™ ticketing and retail platform will enable the operator to offer a congruent consumer experience across its multiple onboard and off-board ticket sale touchpoints, as well as validate all forms of tickets using a barcode system. As a customer of GuestLogix, the operator will also have the option to sell the Company's OnTouch™ Box Office and OnTouch™ Ground Connections onboard its trains, for the sale of tickets to local attractions and vouchers for transportation.

“Earning the trust and business of this leading rail operator further validates the strength of GuestLogix' next-generation technology for smartphones and tablets,” said Ilia Kostov, EVP - Global Sales & Product Strategy for GuestLogix. “Over the past year, we have secured agreements with leading airline and passenger travel operators to deploy our innovative platform and payment sleeves for use with Windows, iOS and Android consumer mobile devices - from Apple to Samsung - and we are thrilled to have signed our first rail customer agreement for the use of this technology.”

This deal represents GuestLogix' continued successful penetration of the European rail market, as well as its commitment to meeting the ever-changing needs of the airline, rail and passenger travel industry, through the advancement of its leading onboard retailing technology.
