US District Court Affirms Prior Ruling Effectively Barring CTC Global From Pursuing Patent Claims Against Mercury Cable

DANA POINT, CA--(Korea Newswire)--Mercury Cable & Energy, Inc., the leading developer of High Voltage Composite Reinforced Conductors (“HVCRC”) for electrical transmission lines, is pleased to announce that the U.S. District Court has granted Mercury Cable's motion to stay the patent lawsuit filed by CTC Global in its entirety, thereby affirming its prior decision and effectively barring CTC Global (the successor to twice bankrupt CTC Cable) from continuing its patent lawsuit against Mercury Cable.

On August 11, 2011, CTC Cable's Bankruptcy Court approved the sale and assignment of the patents-in-suit to CTC Global Corporation, CTC Cable remains in an ongoing bankruptcy.

In its Order dated October 4th 2013, the Court stated: “Despite Plaintiff‘s protestations to the contrary, the Court finds that the present action is an attempt to circumvent the stay that this Court imposed, at CTC Cable’s request, in the related matter, and an attempt to seek reconsideration, again, after this Court twice denied CTC Global the requested relief. CTC Global has presented no evidence or argument that would weigh in favor of reconsideration and CTC Global cannot bypass an order of the Court by creating parallel litigation regarding the same patents and making the same infringement claim. A new case number does not lift a stay.”

Mercury Cable's legal counsel is continuing its investigation of claims for damages against CTC Global for Tortious Interference and Inequitable Conduct.
