KOHI Successfully Concluded ‘2013 Dr. Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Orientation program’ with KOFIH

CHEONGWON, SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare (KOHI, Dr. Lee Sangyong) successfully concluded ‘2013 Dr. Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Orientation program’ with Korea Foundation of International Health, KOFIH. 26 doctors, nurses, health administrators, and biomedical researchers from 11 countries (Afghanistan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Lao PDR Myanmar, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Philippines, and Uzbekistan) participated in the program from 9th to 13th, March in 2013.

The orientation program was designed to review successful Korean health care, and National health insurance. In terms of study visits, they visited at KOHI, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Biobank of Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and Korean Institute Tuberculosis located in Osong Health Technology Administration Complex to know about the health system in government level. The trainees also had an opportunity to know with related to primary health care from Eumseong Public Health Center. In addition, the trainees have experienced Korea’s culture and history through visiting on N-tower and Gyeongbokgung.

After orientation, to have a hands-on-training, doctors will be trained in 7 organizations including Inha University Medical Center, Inje University Paik Hospital, Seoul National University R&DB Foundation, Seoul ST. Mary's Hospital, Severance Hospital, Soon Chun Hyang University Medical Center and Wonju Severance Christian Hospital which is selected by KOFIH.

KOHI runs various International fellowship programs, including health policy, maternal and child health and health finance programs for health professional from Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia and also provides education and training for domestic public officials and personnel in the health and welfare sectors.
