SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA--(Korea Newswire)--In November 2012, a large number of prominent figures in the world music industry will visit Seoul. They include Bruno Crolot, Director of Music Markets at Midem, Malcolm Haynes of the Glastonbury Festival, and James Minor, General Manager of SXSW, to name a few.

These music industry leaders will participate in MU:CON SEOUL 2012, the first global music conference and showcase sponsored by the Korean government, and share information on trends of the world music market at a conference to be held under the theme of ‘How Asian Music Makes a Breakthrough to the World.’ The conference will also provide a chance of building networks among participants.

At the MU:CON conference, which consists of 17 sessions (a keynote speech, 2 special lectures, 7 trend sessions and 7 academy sessions), a total of more than 20 leaders in the world music industry will present lectures. Among them, Bruno Crolot, Director of Music Markets at Midem, will deliver a lecture on the topic of ‘Music Business Basics,’ and Malcolm Haynes and James Minor will deliver a lecture on the topic of ‘Strategy and Knowhow to Join a Mega Festival.’

Naoki Shimizu, General Director of ‘Summer!Sonic,’ of Japan will speak on ‘Asia Live Music Market,’ and Rob Schwartz, Managing Editor of Tokyo Billboard, and Bernie Cho, President of DFSB Collective, a Korea wave specialist, will also present lectures at the conference.

MU:CON, which will be held in Sangam-dong and around Hongik University, taking part will be about 100 music-related companies and over 300 musicians and specialists from many countries around the world. The international music fair will feature showcases by about 50 musician teams in Korea and other countries, international meetings on recent trends and issues of the music industry, and business matching programs.

In particular, business matching programs will include ‘Project Pitching’ where the world's specialists in performance, creation and distribution will provide in-depth consulting services, and face-to-face customized matching for maximum generation of business.
