    KOHI successfully concluded ‘Health Policy and Program Management in Paraguay’, International Training Program.

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare, KOHI(President, Lee Sangyong) successfully concluded ‘Health Policy and Program Management in Paraguay’ with KOICA, as part of Korea‘s ODA plans to contribute to improving the world’s health index, including MDGs. 15 trainees, including health officials, professionals and medical doctors from Paraguay participated in the course from 28th, Nov. to 9th, Dec. in 2011.

The course provided trainees with a platform to learn the successful Korean health policies and management skills, find out strengths and weaknesses of health policy in Paraguay, and make practical and evidence-based action plans suitable for Paraguay. Quality lecturers from university and medical schools helped the trainees learn and understand the lectures throughout the course.

The trainees also visited the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Songpagu public health center, Soonchunhyang University MCH center, Soonchunhyang Gumi Hospital, Gangdong Sacred Heart Hospital to see and learn Korea's health systems.

To understand and experience Korean culture and industry better, the trainees went to Gyeongju cultural heritage places, Hyundai Motors and Hyundai Industries.

“Program, study visit, staff, tour, and environment I experienced here were very nice” said Angel Jose Ortellado, Director of National Cardiovascular Prevention in Paraguay. “I will share the new knowledge I learned here with my colleague to contribute to the advancement of Paraguay. ” he added. Successful conclusion of this program is expected to contribute to the achievement of MDGs 4 and 5 of participating countries and the world.

KOHI has been running various programs, including community healthcare development program and infectious disease control program, to contribute to improvement of the world's health.
