SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--DHL Korea, the world’s leading express company, announced that it has been granted the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certificate in Korea for the first time in the express industry. With this certificate, the company is recognized as trustworthy economic operator, offering excellent export and import services with enhanced security.

The AEO Certificate is based on the SAFE world trade standards, developed by the World Customs Organization, and four blocks of conditions and criteria, record of compliance with customs requirements, internal control system, financial solvency, and security and safety standards, must be satisfied for the accreditation of the certificate. A comprehensive set of benefits are given to the AEO certified companies, and currently this system is in effect in 45 countries worldwide including United States, China, EU, Japan, and Canada.

DHL Express Korea has formed a special task force team within the organization since March 2010 for AEO accreditation and has satisfied all four conditions after going through a series of complicated processes, which lasted for ten months. With this achievement, DHL again demonstrated its excellence in service and can provide much faster export and import services to its customers through numerous benefits from Customs Service Authorities. The benefits, offered to AEO certified enterprises, would allow DHL to pass though customs checkpoints with fewer or no inspection, simplify declaration processes, cut penalty payment on some shipments, and be exempted from periodic screenings

Byung Koo Han, DHL EXPRESS KOREA CEO, said, “DHL can provide much simpler and faster express services to its customers through many privileges of AEO certificate, one of which is the simplification of customs procedures. It is very important that this parallels with one of the premises of 2015 Strategy, Simplified Service that Deutsche Post DHL, the parent company, pursues. From this time forward, DHL is ready to offer services one step ahead of competitors using the world-class level of operating system.

Sang Hoon Jung, Vice President, Operations of DHL EXPRESS KOREA said, “AEO Certificate is just a part of our long-term initiatives. DHL will continue to satisfy the AEO standards and further improve upon to make a more stable and secure operating system.”
