SEOUL--(Korea Newswire) January 2, 2015 -- GM Korea Company set an annual domestic sales record of 154,381 vehicles in 2014. Nationwide sales of GM Korea products were up 2.2 percent from 151,040 units sold in 2013, the automaker’s previous record year.

December was also the nameplate’s twelfth consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth and its best monthly sales since its launch in October 2011.

The Alpheon had its fifth consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, rising 40.6 percent from December 2013. The 2015 Alpheon, which debuted in August, has enhanced safety and convenience features.

Sales of Chevrolet’s RV family - the Orlando, Captiva and Trax - totaled a collective 4,722 units, an increase of 17.3 percent from the previous December.

The Chevrolet Spark had sales of 6,358 units in December which is virtually equal to last year. In addition, sales of the Chevrolet Cruze, which recently posted accumulated global sales of 3 million vehicles, totaled 2,334 units, an increase of 2.5 percent from the same month last year.

GM Korea also benefited from the positive response to the Damas and Labo commercial vehicles, which reentered the market in the second half of 2014. The Labo had its best month of the year in terms of sales in December.

“In 2014, GM Korea demonstrated the competitiveness of the Chevrolet products as we strengthened our presence in the market,” said Marc Comeau, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “We plan to keep up our positive momentum via multiple vehicle launches and enhanced customer service programs this year.”

In December, GM Korea exported 38,906 complete vehicles and 91,642 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

For 2014 as a whole, GM Korea’s vehicle sales totaled 630,532 units (154,381 units in the domestic market and 476,151 units in export markets, excluding CKD products). In addition, GM Korea exported 1,021,558 CKD products.
