Seoul (Korea Newswire) September 16, 2009 08:35 AM -- Kia Motors today made its presence felt at the 63rd Frankfurt International Motor Show by showcasing several new models, including the new Venga B-segment MPV for Europe, its new eco-friendly prototype vehicles and the company’s ‘EcoDynamics’ sub-brand.

The Venga headed an impressive Kia line-up that also included the re-engineered and re-styled Kia cee’d and the all-new Kia Sorento SUV (with up to seven seats). Kia also unveiled its new ‘EcoDynamics’ sub-brand, ‘new look’ cee’d gasoline Hybrid and all-new Sorento diesel Hybrid prototypes, and held the first showing in Europe of Kia’s new Forte LPI Hybrid sedan, which was launched in the domestic Korean market in July.

Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, officially unveiled the Venga – Kia’s second model, following the cee’d, specifically designed and engineered for the European market. At today’s press conference, Mr. Schreyer stated, “Venga will certainly deliver all the practicality and versatility that a European family could require. When you combine that with the design of the car, and the confidence it shows, it really is a triumph of form and functionality.”

“Venga is going to inject much-needed excitement into this compact segment. It is such a head-turner and a great driving car that people who don’t really need an MPV, will want to get one,” he concluded.

Commenting on the company’s current standing in his keynote speech, Hyoung-Keun Lee, President of Kia Motors Corporation, said, “Kia views the current challenging economic environment as an opportunity to raise both market share and brand recognition in every corner of the world. Rather than curtailing our activities in 2009, we continue to aggressively invest in marketing, new product development and overseas manufacturing.”

Mr. Lee also introduced Kia’s newly created ‘EcoDynamics’ sub-brand, and said, “The new name will be applied to the most eco-friendly cars within each Kia model range as we progressively introduce innovative fuel-saving and emissions-lowering technologies.”

In addition to Start/Stop (ISG) equipped cee’d models in Europe, future EcoDynamics vehicles will feature additional C02 and pollutant reducing technologies such as streamlined body parts, alternative fuel capabilities, high-efficiency transmissions and hybrid, electric or fuel-cell powertrains. While delivering significant environmental benefits, Kia’s EcoDynamics vehicles will retain a sporty design, fun-to-drive performance and a strong appeal for the young-at-heart, while enabling customers to quickly and easily identify the most efficient models in Kia’s broad spectrum of products.
